Halfdan Haugen - Burial mound

Burial mound on Tingelstad farmland. Later 1913 was the Museum established around the mound. According to Heimskringla drowned King Halvdan Svarte in Randsfjorden, in Røykenvik. The body was divided and one part buried in each of the landscapes where he ruled. A legend tells that the internal organs were buried here in this mound, named Halvdanshaugen.

Burial mound named Halfdan Haugen is linked to the tradition that it is the Viking king Halfdan the Black to be buried here.
