Burial fields on Velo

The burial site is located just east to the pilegrim path on the land of Velo farm. The name Velo indicates this is pre-Christian holy land, as ve- is interpreted as holy (cp. German weih-) and -lo as a green field or pasture

The first field just east of the trail consists of 20-30 mounds of 1-2 meters. The site is organized as a pastoral landscape with sheep, and a path is cleared for passage through the field. Around the farmyard in the Western and Eastern Velo are several large burial mounds of 3-5 meters. An old cattle trail between the farms just east of the farmyard at Western Velo has been renovated as a walking trail. Following the road further past Eastern Velo and then take the logging road to the left you will come to Jevnaker's second largest burial mounds from the Bronze Age.
