Smedhusåsen (burial mound)

The large burial mound at Smedhusåsen is just one of nine burials in this area, but the other graves are so worn down that they are hard to spot.

To get such a monumental burial as the mound at Smedhusåsen, you couldn’t have been just anyone. To build a grave mound of this size takes a lot of time, manpower and personnel. The whole settlement most likely helped when a grave mound was needed. The person buried here must have been important! At the sign near the mound, you can read more about what kind of things people were buried with in the Iron Age.
