Fire Extinguisher N Jevnaker

This is the fire extinguisher which were common in the fire stations around in the countryside. This extinguisher is from around 1880, the age of the hand-used fire extinguishers. The fire extinguisher is made to use in a cart driven by hand or horse. Similar fire extinguishers in different sizes were financed by insurance companies – Norges Brannkasse in particular – and placed out in the municipalities.

This fire extinguisher is missing the most important parts which are the pump, made of brass, and tubes. The pump was stolen from this fire station in the 1990’s, and in case anyone can give a hint of where it is currently located the Arrangement Committee of Sogns district is happy to recieve tips.
