From the Oslofjord to the Drammensfjord through forests and fields

Day 1

This second stage of Tunsbergleden starts with a beautiful stretch along the coastal path from Borre to Horten. The trail does not go through the town of Horton, but it is not a big detour if you wish to see it. From Borre golf course the trail takes you into the forest and to the lake Borrevannet, where it's possible to both swim and fish. Before passing the boarder to Holmestrand municipality, you will pass Nykirke Church - one of five medieval churches along this stage. The day ends by Botne Church, another medieval church outside of Horten town.

Day 2

On the second day on this stage you will early on pass Davids spring about a kilometer after Botne Church. Not long after that you will reach Gullhaug, where you will find a supermarket. There is also a bakery where they make traditional Norwegian lefse only a kilometer from the trail. After Gullhaug, the trail takes you through stunning forests where you will pass the lake Osebergvannet, before arriving in the small village of Sande. Here you will find, among other things, a supermarket, café and the medieval church Sande Church.

Day 3

From Sande, the trail goes north through agricultural areas along nature paths and country roads before you cross the border of Drammen municipality by Skoger. In Skoger, you will pass Skoger new Church, and The medieval church Skoger old Church is only 1.5 kilometers from the trail. Moving on the trail leads you into the forest Audstadmarka where you will find lovely rest stops, and the two lakes Austadtjernet and Blekktjernet. This stage ends in the city of Drammen, where you can experience history, culture, art and music. There are also many nice restaurants and cafés on both sides of the river.

Recommended season

It is recommended to walk on Tunsbergleden between 1st March and 1st November. Outside of this period, there is limited daylight, and snow may cover the markings along the trail and make it difficult to walk. Additionally, not all accommodations along Tunsbergleden are open year-round.
