On the trail

From the stone circle by the road, you can easily walk up towards the field. There, a larger burial site will appear, where you’ll see another stone circle and a burial cairn. The graves are not archaeologically excavated, but they probably date to Early Iron Age (500 BC – 550 AD). During this period, the most common burial method was by cremation. The burnt bones were usually put in a clay pot and buried alongside personal artefacts, like jewellery, weapons or tools.
