Stjørdal museum Værnes
The museum is built around Martin Moe's large collection of antiques and natural history material. In the old parsonage building, some rooms are furnished with style furniture and "farm furniture" from the 18th and 19th centuries. The rectory includes a 19th-century English-style garden. In Hæsjgata, there are several older buildings that have been moved from Stjørdal city centre.
There is also a burial mound from the Viking Age and remains of a limestone kiln from the Middle Ages located on site. Close to the museum is Værnes church, a very well-preserved stone church from approx. 1140. There is a joint tour of the church and the museum area on offer during the summer season. A Restored barn opened in 2005 with exhibitions and workshops for craft courses. The rectory café offers simple dishes and is open during the summer season.
They are open Mon-Fri all year and extended opening hours in the summer.
