Stange Vicarage
This was one of the largest farms in the village. Over 50 farms belonged to the church in Stange in the 17th century. In the 19th century the vicarage owned as many as 28 homesteads, mostly in the forest of Prestmarka.
Harriet Backer, one of the most important Norwegian painters, lived with Pastor Kielland (the brother of Alexander Kielland) in the vicarage over several summers. "Altergang I Stange Kirke" (Holy Communion in Stange Church) is one of her most famous paintings, painted in 1913. As a model she often used the old people at Fokhol nursing home. They were payed 10 øre per hour to model, but they thought this was too little and they formed the first known strike in Stange.
