The church was a romanesque stone church that is located in the senter of the park by Borgarsyssel Museum, in Sarpsborg. The building of the church began around year 1115, and was one of three medieval churches in the medieval town of Borg. It was in use until 1567, when there was a devastating city fire, and it was decided that the city was to be relocated.
