The farm is situated freely with a view of the village and the fjord, and the history goes back as far as the Black Death. Pilgrimsleden and Gamle Kongevei go straight through the yard. The farm is mentioned in Sigrid Undset's books about Kristin Lavransdatter and according to the books, Kristin Lavransdatter and Erlend Nikolausson lived at the chieftain's seat Husaby in Skaun. In 1718 the Carolines ravaged the farm, and in the 19th century Snefugl was a sheriff's farm.

The farm consists of the traditional buildings: trønderlån, kår housing, firehouse, mast, storehouse and outbuildings. Today there is chicken and plant production on the farm, and in the summer dairy cows graze. In winter, they work in the forest.
