The church of Sande is a medieval cell church in stone, it consists of a rectangular nave with a narrow and lower choir. Both the choir and the nave have a gable/vaulted roof. The choir has on each side of the naves east side have an apsidal chapel.

In 1860 the interior of the church was renewed, except for the pulpit and altar from 1783, and the soapstone baptismal font from the Middle Ages. In the choir there is a triptych depicting the sacrifice of Abraham, with written text on the sides. There are also numerous portraits of preists from 1700-1933. The first time the church was mentioned in written texts was in 1387. The curch burned to the ground in 1783, only ruins of the walls remained. The rebuilding of the church took 8 years.
