Equestrian trails in Mosmoen

Situated along Gudbrandsdalsleden
In Mosmoen on the border against Ringerike there are equestrian trails.

Travelling by horse and wagon were not common in Norway until the 17th century. Before that time the old almannaveiene were used as equestrian and walking trails. In sloping terrain with fine-grained, but resistant soils the terrain was worn down by such traffic. At the beginning of Mosmoen one sees not less than three sunken roads running parallel to each other. In our mountainous country sunken roads are rare, whereas they are many, and some are still in use on the continent.
