The waterway across Lake Mjøsa was also used as part of the pilgrimage to Nidaros in the Middle Ages. Many pilgrims arrived by boat on one of the shores near Hamar.

Today's pilgrims can cross the lake on the paddle steamer DS Skibladner as part of their pilgrimage. Skibladner is a pilgrimage boat and offers discount to pilgrims who carry a Pilgrim's Passport.

The oldest paddle steamer in the world still operating a scheduled service sails between following eight ports in summer 2020: Hamar, Gjøvik, Lillehammer, Moelv, Brumunddal, Atlungstad, Evjua, Kapp og Nes.

Eidsvoll port will be closed for the next three seasons due to the construction work of a new railway bridge over Vorma at Minnesund. The southernmost port will then be Evjua Strandpark in Totenvika on Sundays.

Skibladner operates a timetabled service from June 23 to August 16th, 2020. Sailings daily, except Mondays. For more information and timetable, please click here https://www.skibladner.no/home
