A 18th century church, on the pilgrim trail
Øvre Rental Church is a log church that was completed in 1759, but was only inaugurated in 1961. Previously, the church was located down in Vangen by the Bull museum, where the residence of the priest also used to be located. The oldest church in the area that one knows of was build in the 12th century and was located up by Nordset in Østegrenda. A crucifix from this early church is now kept at the alter of Øvre Rendal Church as a memory of a time when many pilgrims passed through the village.
