The bridge dates back many centuries and was mentioned in Jens Nilssøn's, the Bishop of Oslo in the late 16th century, visitation books in 1594. The bridge you see today was set up by Akershus county in 1838 and is conserved as cultural heritage.
When the route of St.Olav was opened in 1997, footpaths down to the bridge were constructed on both sides of the river.
