Otta

Otta is located in northern Gudbrandsdal where Gudbrandsdalslågen meet the intense green glacier river Otta.

Otta is a town and the administrative center in Sel municipality, and has approx. 1,700 inhabitants. Otta is an important inland transportation hub, with connection to Trondheim, Oslo and west towards the coast. From Otta it is a short distance to famous destinations like Galdhøpiggen, Geiranger, Stryn, Snøhetta and Rondeslottet.

The village of Otta was established as the Dovre railway opened in 1922, until then Nord-Sel was the center of the municipality. Otta was granted city status in 2000 and is one of the few cities in Norway without a church.
