Saint Olav is said to have ridden along this road on his way to Medieval Borg. His horse was thirsty, he had therefore been looking for a source of water for a long time. When he found the spring, he was so pleased that he blessed it. The spring is said to never run dry, and the water give strength to whoever drinks is. Olav Springs are found several places in Norway, and are often connected to the ancient Pilgrim Ways.
