A few meters north of the pilgrim trail, there is a spring of water. A legend says that the spring was blessed by Saint Olav in 1016, when he was looking for water for his horse. He said "may this spring never run dry".

Saint Olav is said to have ridden along this road on his way to the medieval town of Borg. His horse was thirsty, and he had been looking for a source of water for a long time. When he found the spring, he was so pleased that he blessed it. The spring is said to never run dry, and the water give strength to whoever drinks is. Olav Springs are found several places in Norway, and are often connected to the ancient pilgrim trails.
