Mjøskastellet (Mjøs citadel)

Mjøskastellet (Mjøs citadel) which is located on Steinholmen was built by Håkon Håkonsson approximately in 1230s as a protective measure in troubling times. This was another well-known landmark for the pilgrims. Currently the ruins are the only visible elements of Mjøskastellet and you would have to mount the islet to be able to see it.

In addition to the cultural heritage some parts of Steinholmen is listed as a nature reserve.
