Levanger Church

Situated along St. Olavsleden
Levanger Church is a long church that was inaugurated in 1902. The building was designed by Karl Norum in Art Nouveau style, and is built of stone. The church is located right in the center of Levanger.

Levanger town centre has suffered several fires and several churches have been lost to the fires. After the last city fire in 1897 there were great discussions with regards to the location of the new church and whether it should be built in wood or stone. In the end, the church was to be built on the old site but it should be built in stone. The church was designed by Karl Norum.

In 1900, three years after the fire, the first shovel was put into the ground and two and a half years later the church was completed. An altarpiece, baptismal font and three chandeliers was salvaged from the previous church. These were reused in the new stone church.
