The Carolean Death March

In this area in Duved, general Armfeldt gathered his army before the march against Trondheim in August 1718. Thousands of men, horses and livestock were preparing for a journey most of them would not return from. The retreat from the war ended in tragedy when half of the army of around 6000 soldiers died and 800 became severely handicapped for the rest of their lives.
