Karl Johan's Road
Situated along St. Olavsleden
Road from the early 19th century - today a popular walking route
The road is a comprehensive and well preserved road stretching over 17.5 km with stone bridges typical of the time. There are also two cast iron milestones along this stretch of road. It was the Swedish- Norwegian King Carl Johan who built the road to help ease the tension between the two countries. When the road was completed in 1835, it was regarded as work of great engineering.
