Gullfunnet burial site

Situated along Borgleden
Near Gullfunnet in Rygge, there is a large burial site from the iron age. The area is named after the finding of golden items in 1872, not far from the burial ground.

On the trail

One of the findings that was made in 1972 was of a golden spur (riding equipment) from the viking age. In the same there are 17 burial mounds, but these haven't been surveyed by archeologists yet. You can read more about the burial customs in the Iron Age on the signs that you can find by the burial mounds.
