Fåvang church

Situated along Gudbrandsdalsleden
Fåvang church was built in the years 1627-1630 as a cruciform church with recycled parts from a stave church from the 1100s

Fåvang church was rebuilt and extended into a cruciform church, mostly by materials from earlier stave churches in the valley. It is likely that materials from a stave church on the same site has also been used. The oldest parts dates back to around 1150 to 1250. The church has been through several modifications and was restored in the period 1949 to 1951. Because of the modifications it is not considered a stave church.

There is a strong oral tradition in the village that says this medieval stave church was located near Prestangen in the hillside above today's church.

The church is located about a kilometer from pilgrim route.
