Biri church

Wooden church built in 1777.

Biri church is a parish church located in Biri, Toten. This cruciform wooden church was built in 1777. The architect was Amund Nilsen Gloppe. The church was restored in 1936/38 and 1953/54.

On the location to the Biri church there was originally a stave church from the 12th century. The stave church interior consisted a wooden sculpture of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus. This sculpture, dated 1230-1240 is now placed in the collection of the University of Oslo/Historical museum. A replica of this sculpture was made in 2013.
