Leave No Trace - Take Care of Nature
When on a pilgrimage, it is important to show respect for both nature and the people living along the Pilgrim Path, especially if you plan to camp in a tent along the way.
We All Share Responsibility for Sustainable Use of the Pilgrim Paths.
Our goal is to leave no trace. The Right to Roam and the Outdoor Recreation Act provide guidelines for activities in both cultivated and uncultivated areas, which also apply to the Pilgrim Paths.
- Do not camp closer than 150 meters (approx. 500 feet) from houses and cabins.
- If using a tent or hammock, be mindful of nature.
- Do not camp on cultivated land, fenced areas, or farmland.
- Be considerate when using the toilet. Use designated toilet facilities whenever possible.
- Use dog waste bags to carry out toilet paper and “human waste.”
- Take all trash and waste with you to the nearest garbage bin.
- Remember that there is a ban on open fires from April 15 to September 15.
- If you bring a dog, follow the leash laws – adhere to local regulations.
- Respect grazing animals – practice “cow sense.”
