Day of Arrival: To North Jordet in Trysil
Bus “Trysilekspressen” to “Trysil sentrum, Innbygda”. Bus to Jordet (poss.bus from Jordet to Eltdalen).
Jordet - village with groceries (Mo-Thu 9-17, Fr 9-18) and gas station (1 km off the trail). Make sure to purchase food for the next days until Åkrestrømmen! Nordre Trysil Church, opened in 2000, located 1,5 km off the trail.

Day 1: Jordet - Nøsledammen – Eltdalen ca. 18 km
Slettvola at 770 ASL is the highlight of the day. There is an open cabin owned by Jordet hunting and fishing club by the pond Nøsledammen.

Day 2: Eltdalen – Munkbetsetra – Osdalssjøen ca. 23 km
Hike in mountain terrain which slowly steepens. You reach the border of Rendalen municipality ca. 10 km past Eltdalen. Sign to a possible side trip to Leirsætra. A grave mound was found here during roadworks in 1964: a hunter’s grave at 820 ASL with archeological arrowheads, files, saws, armour from 600 AD. After ca. 12 km you reach Munkbetsetra: its name origins from the Middle Ages when only pilgrims (often called monks -”munk” in Norwegian) were allowed to pasture their horses here. From Munkbetsetra it’s 8 km through hilly terrain without steep elevations to Osdalsjøen.
Accommodation: Osdalssjøhytta – open cabin for 4-5 persons. Simple cooking facilities. Outhouse.
Day 3: Osdalsjøen – Fjellkroken - Rensjøene ca. 19 km
From beech forests at Osdalssjøen you come to pine forests at Fjellkroken where you cross river Osa over a bridge (NB 2018-05-31: The brigde is gone, you need to wade here untill new brigde is build) that leads into the nature reserve Osdalen; the trail slowly steepens towards Gammelskarven (906 ASL). After that varied landscape with woods and marshland. From Østvollen (700 ASL) on again steepening terrain, great view at Mount Sølen.
Accommodation: Pilgrim Cabin by Lake Nordre Rensjøen, unattended cabin for 4 persons. Outhouse. Fireplace.
Day 4: Rensjøene – Rosemaries kilde - Åkrestrømmen ca. 12 km
Path in slightly inclined terrain, passing Søljerøsta and Rosemaries kilde, a well inaugurated by Bishop Rose Marie Køhn in July 1998. The paths leads along river Mistra to the road Fv 217 and Åkrestrømmen - a village with groceries, cafe, gas station. Joker Åsheim groceries, +47 62469160, 8-19/9-18.

Day 5: Åkrestrømmen – Åkre – Otnes, Ytre Rendal ca. 10 km
The trail follows the road Fv 217 and the bridge crossing river Rena, after that road Rv 30 northwards. Take a left turn by the Community House and follow the forest path until you reach the road Moraveien, then turn right northwards til Åkre - a pilgrim traffic junction. The Østerdalen Trails from Trysil (EAST) and Rena (WEST) meet here. The Pilgrim Stone is a heritage from the pilgrim traffic in the Middle Ages, with carved cross and ML (=halfway or year 1050) by the trail, by Fagertun School. Follow Moraveien, the old King’s road, uphill for 5 km until Otnes – village with groceries, gas station and Ytre Rendal Church (+47 62468469 – church office). Accommodation: Pilgrim cabin close by the church, Strandveien 16, simple cabin with 2 beds, power, outhouse. Keys, information and water at the gas station.
Day 6: Otnes - Øvre Rendal ca. 17 km
Road Rv 30 northwards, take a right turn after 2,3 km and follow the agricultural road until Hornset, then alongside the river. In Øvre Rendal you pass by the Bull-museum (open jun-aug) and Øvre Rendal Church (+47 62 46 84 69 - church office). Shops open until 17 (last opportunity before the mountain stage). Ca. 800 m after the church, the trail turns left onto a gravel road.
Accommodation: Smedberget Pilegrimstun. Pilgrim cabin (the red cabin) has got solar-sourced power, 5 beds in 3 rooms and mattresses. Outhouse. Bathroom with shower, cooking facilities in the main house’s basement (ent. East). (Aslaug+Asbj. Haugen +47 90756922)
Remember to buy food for the next 4 days!
Nice path in the forest further northwards passing a shooting range and down to road Rv 30, you can follow that road til Fonnås. Bus Koppang-Tynset from the road junction to Østagrenda.
Day 7: Øvre Rendal - Fonnåsfjellet – Skorsåsetra ca. 18 km
Steep incline from Fonnås Gård in Elvål, up Mount Fonnåsfjellet, great view back, simple hike on the mountain trail to Skorsåsetra.
Stay in a permanent tent or lavvo at the mountain farm.
Day 8: Skorsåsetra - Skarsjøen - S. Kvanntjønna, Tylldalen, ca. 12 km.

Day 9: Søndre Kvanntjønna – Småvangan ca. 12 km.

Day 10: Småvangan, Tylldalen - Tynset ca. 18 km.

Shops, museum, Tynset Church and Tynset station.
Arrival / departure:
BUS: Trysilekspressen runs daily between Oslo and Trysil. Travel time 3,5 hours. Possible to get on the bus at Oslo Busterminal and Oslo Airport Gardermoen, more stops along the way. (+47 481 66 900, firstname.lastname@example.org)

Accommodation: Bring a sleeping bag. Contact the accomodations in advance. Keep in mind that there is poor coverage for mobile phones on parts of the trail.
